— ABOUT US —
Around the year 2000, Fredrik moved to a house in one of Stockholm's many suburbs. The kitchen was equipped with quite an old freezer and this freezer was constantly making a humming noise (the compressor hard at work). At night when everything else was dead quiet, the freezer was making more noise than a gang of cicadas having a new year's eve party.
This sparked Fredrik's interest, he wanted to understand how much energy the compressor consumed and what would be the ROI if he bought a new freezer? How could the problem be solved?
The only available tool, at that time, for the job was to buy or borrow a portable electricity meter that could measure one single outlet. Dragging the freezer out, installing an extension cord, put in the meter felt fairly unattractive. There must be another way! The previous analogue utility meters with a rotating disc had just been replaced, and the new digital meeters was rolling out nation wide. After spending some time with a stop watch and a calculator best way of measuring the power consumption would be to tap into the electricity meter. At the time more and more electricity meters came out with a flashing LED.
Fredrik wanted to be able to decipher the flashing LED and present the actual consumption in a wireless tool, in an easy to understand manner. This kind of tool would help him to minimizer his utility bill. The company PowerConcern was born and the product PMD1050 hit the market, the year was 2005.
Many years later Fredrik's interest to save energy is even stronger, today he leads a team of highly skilled engineers developing innovative solutions for EV-charging and solar energy management.
Our products run open source software and you can follow our journey on GitHub .
We are building an EV-charger you will love. The fun part is that it is completely open source.
We believe that solar energy management and EV-charging go hand in hand.
With openness and full access to your data, innovation is just a heartbeat away.
